Humans tend to accept easily the objects they find understandable, readable, reliable and compatible by nature. The reason for this is actually hidden in nature. Many things that surround us in nature, such as the regular arrangement of the petals of a flower, the structure of a leaf, and the uniform appearance of a butterfly's wings, have a formal balance and harmony within themselves. For this reason, it seeks this balance in the objects with which people communicate, from the architectural structures in their artificial environment to the products of use. Human first perceives the form of the object with their sense organs. Achieving balance in form is very important, especially in a profession that designs products for human use, such as industrial design. Because the success of an industrial product design depends on its good appearance, meeting aesthetic expectations, easy perception, easy use, and adaptation to its environment. For this reason, creating a good form of product-user interaction can be considered a success in design. For this reason, designers need to use the principles of Gestalt theory correctly in design. This study will focus on the Gestalt principle of balance-symmetry-asymmetry, which seems to be the most effective in harmony and balance in the product. The use of symmetry in product form and how much it should be used will be discussed. The subject was examined with a study with theoretical research and industrial design 4th-grade students. The symmetry approaches of the students in design will be examined with the "interpretation of the use of symmetry in design" study conducted with the 4th-grade students who knew visual design principles in the 1st-grade basic design course. Thus, it will be tried to explain the perspectives of symmetry from the perspective of the designer.en_US
