Özet
Televizyon kitle iletişim aracı olarak 1950’li yıllardan günümüze kadar geçen süreç içinde özellikle endüstriyel ülkelerde öncü medya konumuna gelmiştir. Televizyon birçok insan için günlük hayatın önemli bir parçası haline geldi, hatta birçok insanın günlük hayatının akışının televizyon tarafından düzenlendiği gözlenmektedir. Toplumun bütün katmanlarının ve farklı yaş gruplarının ilgisini sürekli artan bir oranda üzerine çeken televizyon daha önce bilinmeyen bir etkime gücüyle diğer kurumların, kendini onların yerine ikame etmeksizin önüne geçmeye başlamıştır. Bütün bu özellikleriyle televizyon birey ve toplumu yönlendirmekte, dahası etnik gruplar, cinsiyetler, yaş grupları ve sınıflar arasındaki farklılıkları ortadan kaldırarak tekdüzeleştirmektedir. Kendini sürekli tekrar etmekten ve her şeyi yayın zamanı içinde aktüelleştirmekten aldığı güçle televizyon, birey ve toplumun oluş tarzlarının, kanaatlerin, değer yargılarının ve zevklerinin belirlenmesinde önemli bir rol üstlenmekte ve toplumsal iletişimi etkilemektedir. Bütün bu yönleriyle televizyonun çok iyi analiz edilmesi, medyatik özellikleri ve sosyokültürel değerler arasındaki etkileşim biçimleri ve sonuçlarının çok boyutlu olarak değerlendirilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu analizlerin ve değerlendirmelerin sağlıklı biçimde yapılabilmesi için, televizyon hakkında daha önce yapılmış irdelemelerin araştırılıp incelenmesi ve bu araştırmaların ülke şartlarını gözeterek oluşturulabilecek olan televizyon teorilerine zemin teşkil etmesi gerekmektedir.
Television has turned out to be the leading medium as a means of the mass media especially in industrial countries in the period from 1950 to the present. Infact, television has become a significant part of everyday life for a great number of people to such an extent that it has been observed that the course of everyday life for many people is arranged by television. As a matter of fact, television, which – at constantly increasing rate – has been capturing the attention of all the layers of the society and of different age-groups, has – with a power of efficiency that was unknown before - got ahead of the other institutions without replacing them. With all these features thereof, television not only manipulates individuals and the society but also makes away with the differences between ethnic groups, genders, age groups and classes whereby giving them uniformity. With the powerit obtains by continuously repeating itself and actualizing everything in the course of the broadcasting, television undertakes a significant role in the determination of the manners of formation of individuals and the society, of their opinions, standards of judgment as well as pleasures, and also affects social communication. Because of all these mentioned aspects, television is to be analyzed very well, in additionally the forms of interaction between its features as a means of mass media and socio-cultural values, and their results are to be evaluated from different dimensions. For these analyses and evaluations to becarried out accurately, the analyses, on television, that have been made before are to be researched and studied and these researches have to form a basis for the theories on television that shall be prepared inconsideration of the conditions of the country.
