Özet
I am pleased to write this Preface for Prof. Safty1s latest book on leadership. Appropriately called Global Leadership, it presents multicultural perspectives on leadership and management. It offers insights into what Prof. Safty has called value leadership that is leadership that adds value to the human development in whatever field. It also illuminates such crucial facets of leadership as creativity, innovation, challenges of leadership, opportunities attendant to the information revolution, and corporate social responsibility. The publication of the book coincides with the 8th Global Leadership Forum, sponsored by Istanbul Commerce University as well as by an international consortium of educational · and leadership organizations. They all share and support Prof. Safty's message of leadership for human development. As the President of Istanbul Commerce University, I think I speak for all my colleagues at Istanbul Commerce University when I say that human resources and therefore human development are at the core of our approach to leadership and management in our academic programs as well as in our community outreach activities. Let me take this opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Prof. kerem Alkin and his team ably led by Oguz Demir, to the work of the 8th Global Leadership Forum. Let me also reiterate my wholehearted support for Prof. Safty and the Global Leadership Forum. The contributions gathered in this volume all underscore the importance of a humanİst approach to leadership whether in the academy, in the private sector, in educational institutions, or in governmental and non-governmental organizations. They also remind us of an important facet of globalization that is often not discussed, and that is that globalization has a multicultural face with a diversity of perspectives and human needs. Istanbul Commerce University also shares with the Global Leadership Forum i ts commitment to. using education as a tool of empowerment to help create public awareness and motivate current and future leaders to be committed to leadership for human development. I trust the reader will find this book a valuable contribution in that regard.
