An investigation on the removal of alkali from sinter mix with the chlorinating evaporation method

Özet

In this study, the removal of the alkali which exists in the blended sinter material that provided from Erdemir Plants, was investigated. In the Experiments, the stoichiometric amount of all the impurities in the original sinter blend was calculated and was added 1 , 2, 4 and 6 times of stoichiometric quantity the solid CaCl 2 in sinter blend. Experiments were performed at 1350 o C, the parameters such as, particle size and the amount of CaCl 2 on the alkali removal efficiencies were investigated. Both the solid and solution CaCl 2 was added the ratio of 0,5,1,2 and 3% (up to 1 , 2, 4 and 6 times of the stoichiometric amount) in the sinter mix. For the samples added Calcium chloride as a solid form, optimal results were obtained with the 3 % CaCl 2 (6 times of the stoichiometric amount). These samples were achieved 41.54 % and 21.09 % removal efficiency for K 2 O and Na 2 O respectively. In experiments investigated the effect of particle size on alkali removal, the original mixture fractionated different and experiments were performed separately for each fraction. The size distribution expe riments, as expected, the best results are obtained 0.10 mm grain size samples which were added 3 % CaCl 2 as a solid form, has been removed K 2 O and Na 2 O, 59.13%, and 69.21% removal efficiency respectively. As a result of addition 3 % CaCl 2 as the solution, it was obtained the yield for K 2 O and Na 2 O respectively 49,09% and 28,7%. In the experiments performed on the sinter materials with 100 micron particle size was obtained the yield for K 2 O and Na 2 O in order of 88.08 % and 73.26
