| dc.description.abstract | Sosyolojinin gündemine aldığı güncel meseleler arasında, yaşlılık konusu önemli bir araştırma problemi olarak karşımıza çıkmaya başlamıştır. Tüm dünyada ve ülkemizde değişen demografik özellikler çerçevesinde içinde bulunduğumuz dönemde "yaşlılık" meselesi farklı bir konum kazanmıştır. Toplumsal konular ele alınırken ülkemiz için gençler, gençlik meseleleri ön plana alınmaktayken, hali hazırda yaşlanan nüfusa sahip bir ülke konumuna geçişimizin önemi, son birkaç yıldır fark edilmekle birlikte, bu yeni oluşuma bağlı değişim ve dönüşümler dikte edilmeye başlanmıştır. Bu çalışma da yaşlılık meselesini konu edinerek, bireyin mekândan bağımsız düşünülemeyeceğini ön planda tutarak, yaşlıların mekân ile ilişkisine odaklanmaktadır. Kentte yaşayan yaşlıların, mekân ile ilgili memnuniyetlerinin nasıl olduğu, kendilerini yaşadıkları yere ait hissedip hissetmedikleri, mekânsal değişime tepkileri, mekânın onlara hangi imkânları sağladığı, mekânın onlar için bütünleştirici mi yoksa ayrıştırıcı bir tavır mı sergilediği gibi sorular, bu araştırma için temel soruları oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında araştırma sorularının içeriğini yaşlıların mekân algıları, aidiyetleri ve beklentilerine ilişkin görüşleri Henri Lefebvre'in mekân kavramına yaklaşımları perspektifinde ele alınmıştır. Araştırmaya yönelik, yaşlı bireylerin mekânsal pratiklerinin okunmasına yönelik, farklı habituslarda yaşayan 65 yaş ve üzeri kişilerle görüşme sağlanmış, yaşlı bireylerin mekânsal ilişkileri analizi yapılmış ve yaşlıların mekâna ilişkin beklentileri ön plana çıkarılmıştır. Bu bağlamda İstanbul ilinde iki farklı semt örneği ele alınarak, mekânsal değişim, mekân algısı ve yaşlı bireylerin mekâna yönelik ilişkilerinin ve beklentilerinin değerlendirmesine yönelik bir çalışma sunulmuştur. Çalışma kapsamında Kadıköy ve Bağcılar ilçeleri seçilerek, 65 yaş ve üzeri bireylerden oluşan örneklem seçimi ile Kadıköy'de ikamet eden beş kişi ve Bağcılar'da ikamet eden beş kişi ile olmak üzere, toplam on kişi ile mülakat yapılmıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemleri kapsamında, içerik analizi yöntemi ile bulgular analiz edilmiştir. Bu araştırma ile yaşlı bireylerin, toplumsal devinimler sonucu kentsel mekânda meydana gelen değişimler karşısında onların da karşılıklı değişime uğradığı ve mekânın yapısını etkilediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. | dc.description.abstract | Among the current issues that sociology has put on its agenda, the issue of old age has started to emerge as an important research problem. Today, the issue of "old age" has gained a different position within the framework of changing demographics in all over the world and Turkey. While social issues are being addressed for our country, youth and youth issues are taken to forefront. With the importance of our transition to a country with an aging population has been recognized in the last few years, changes and transformations due to this new formation have begun to be dictated. This study focuses on the relationship of the elderly with the space, by focusing on the issue of old age, keeping in the foreground that the individual cannot be thought independently of the place. Questions such as how the elderly living in the city are satisfied with the place, whether they feel like they belong to the place they live in, their reactions to spatial change, what opportunities the place provides for them, whether the space has an integrative or divisive attitude for them, constitute the main questions for this research. Within the scope of this study, the content of the research questions, elderly people's perceptions of space, opinions on their sense of belonging and their expectations are discussed in the perspective of Henri Lefebvre's approach to the concept of space. Within the framework of the research, interviews have been made with people aged 65 and over living in different habitus to read the spatial practices of the elderly people, the spatial relations of the elderly individuals have been analyzed and the expectations of the elderly regarding the space have been brought to the forefront. In this context, a study on spatial change, perception of space, and the evaluation of the relations and expectations of elderly individuals towards space is presented by considering two different districts in the province of Istanbul. In the course of the study, Kadıköy and Bağcılar districts have been selected and interviews have been conducted with a total of ten people, five people residing in Kadıköy and five people residing in Bağcılar, with a sample selection of individuals aged 65 and over. Within the scope of qualitative research methods, the findings have been analyzed with the content analysis method. With this research, it has been concluded that the elderly individuals, in the face of changes in the urban space as a result of social movements, also undergo mutual changes and affect the structure of the space.
