dc.description.abstract	Bu makalede infertilite tedavisi gören bireylerin duygusal yaşantıları ve baş etme biçimleri nitel yöntemlerle araştırılmış, yaşadıkları duygusal güçlüklerin yakından tanınması ve tıbbi ve psikolojik destek hizmetlerine katkı sağlamak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada Maltepe Üniversitesi Hastanesi Tüp Bebek Ünitesi’nde tedavi görmekte olan 8 çift ve 12 kadınla görüşülmüştür. Bulgular nitel veri analizi programı (Nvivo8) kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Katılımcılar cinsel ilişki yoluyla çocuk sahibi olamayacaklarını öğrendiklerinde hissettikleri duyguları hayal kırıklığından öfkeye kadar uzanan geniş bir yelpazede, özellikle şok, yadsıma, öfke, suçluluk, depresyon ve yas şeklinde tanımlamışlardır. Katılımcılarda, çocuk sahibi olamamak kadınlığın ifadesindeki bir yetersizlik, benlik algısında bir azalma, genel olarak varoluşsal bir eksiklik ve travmatik bir yaşantı olarak deneyimlenmiştir. Aile ve eş desteği bu süreçte baş etmeye yardımcı en önemli sosyal destek kaynakları olarak tanımlanmıştır. Kadının eğitimli olması, evin dışında iş sahibi olması ve infertiliteyi kendi kontrolü dışında manevi bir planın parçası olarak görme, olumsuz duygularla baş etmede yardımcı olan diğer önemli kaynaklar olarak öne çıkmıştır.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	In this article emotional experiences and coping styles of individuals undergoing infertility treatment, were examined qualitatvely. The aim was to contribute to medical and psychological support services to these individuals by recognizing the difficulties they face during the process of infertility treatment. Semi structured interviews were conducted with 8 couples and 12 women who were under treatment at the IVF Clinic at Maltepe University Hospital. The findings were analyzed using NVivo8, a program for qualitative data analysis. Participants identifed experiencing a range of emotions from disappointment to anger when they found out that they would not be able to have children through sexual intercourse. They expressed the feelings of shock, denial, anger, guilt, depression and grief. Inability to have a child was experienced as an inadequacy in femininity, a reduction in self perception, a general existential defficiency and a traumatic event. Family and spousal support have been identified as the most important sources of social support that help to cope with this process. For women, being educated, working outside the home, and viewing infertility as part of a spiritual plan that is outside of self control emerged as other important sources of coping with negative emotions.	en_US
