Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, velilerin özel okul veya devlet okulu tercihlerinde etki eden faktörlerin değerlendirilmesidir. Araştırmanın kaynak verileri, yüz yüze görüşme yoluyla, demografik bilgi formu ve yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formu kullanarak elde edilmiş olup nitel araştırma yöntemi ve olgu bilim deseni kullanılan bir çalışmadır. Verilerin analizinde de tematik analiz kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu 2021-2022 yılında İstanbul ilinin Arnavutköy ilçesinde eğitim gören öğrencilerin velilerini oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma grubu toplam 26 veliden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, çocuklarının okulu tercih etmesinde "ebeveynlerin" etkili olduğu bunu "öğrencinin kendisi" ve "öğretmen çevresinin etkisi" takip ettiği görülmektedir. Okulun velilere yaklaşımı konusunda görüşlerde de "kuvvetli iletişim" ve "ilgilenmiyorlar" görüşlerinin ağırlıklı olduğu sonucu ortaya çıkmaktadır. Okulun sağladığı fiziksel imkanlarla ilgili görüşlere bakıldığında, "Verimli" ve "Verimsiz" gibi farklı görüşler savunulmaktadır. Okulun sağladığı akademik imkanlarla ilgili görüşlere bakıldığında ise "Verimli", "Bilgi sahibi değilim" ve "Verimsiz" görüşleri ortaya çıkmaktadır. Çocuğunuzun geleceği için hangi açılardan seçilen okulun daha avantajlı olduğunu düşünüyorsunuz? İle ilgili görüşlere bakıldığında "Meslek sahibi olma", "Bilgili olmalı", "iyi bir vatandaş" görüşleri öne çıkmaktadır. Sizce devlet okullarına güven azalıyor mu? Sorusuna ağırlıklı olarak "Evet" cevabı verildiği görülmektedir. Sizce özel okullarına güven azalıyor mu? Sorusunda ise neredeyse yarı yarıya bir oran ile karşılaşılmaktadır. Okulların yetiştirme tarzına dikkat ediyor musunuz? Soruna ağırlık olarak "Evet" cevabı verildiği görülmektedir. Sizce devlet ve özel okullar arasındaki fark nedir? Sorusuna "Özel okullar daha nitelikli", "Özel okulların hocaları iyi" görüşleri ön plana çıkmaktadır. Anahtar kelimler: Okul tercihi, Özel okul, Devlet Okulu, Arnavutköy, İstanbul
The aim of this study is to evaluate the factors affecting parents' preferences for private or public schools. The source data of the study were obtained through face-to-face interviews, using a demographic information form and a semi-structured interview form, and qualitative research method and phenomenological design were used. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. The study group consists of the parents of students studying in Arnavutköy district of Istanbul in 2021-2022. The study group consists of a total of 26 parents. According to the results of the research, it is seen that "parents" are effective in their children's school preference, followed by "the student himself/herself" and "the influence of the teacher's environment". In terms of the school's approach to parents, "strong communication" and "they are not interested" are the predominant views. When we look at the opinions about the physical facilities provided by the school, different opinions such as "efficient" and "inefficient" are defended. Regarding the academic facilities provided by the school, the opinions are "Efficient", "I have no information" and "Inefficient". When we look at the views on the question "In which aspects do you think the school selected is more advantageous for your child's future?", the views of "having a profession", "being knowledgeable" and "being a good citizen" come to the fore. Do you think trust in public schools is decreasing? It is seen that the answer to the question is predominantly "Yes". Do you think trust in private schools is decreasing? In the question "Do you think trust in private schools is decreasing?", almost half of the respondents answered "Yes". Do you pay attention to the upbringing style of schools? It is seen that the answer to the question is predominantly "Yes". What do you think is the difference between public and private schools? To the question "Private schools are more qualified" and "Private schools have better teachers" come to the forefront. Key Words: School choice, Private school, Public school, Arnavutköy, İstanbul
