Abstract
Sinemanın başlangıcından itibaren ortaya çıkan türlerden biri olan belgesel film, gerçeği ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla, görüntü dili kullanılarak, belirli bir kurgu mantığıyla gerçekleştirilen bir yapım türüdür. Belgesel türü, önce belgesel sinema olarak vücut bulmuş ardından televizyon mecrasına doğru açılmıştır. Kuşkusuz belgesel filmlerin televizyon izleyicileri için bilgilendirme ve eğitme gibi son derece önemli işlevleri vardır. Ancak ticari olarak yeterince piyasası oluşmadığından, ticari televizyonlar bu alana yeterince ilgi göstermemiştir. Bu nedenle bu film türü, ağırlıklı olarak kamusal yayıncılık yapan televizyon kanallarının ilgi ve sorumluluk alanında kalmıştır. Türkiye'de Türkiye Radyo Televizyon Kurumu (TRT), kuruluşundan itibaren belgesel filme olabildiğince önem vermiş, oluşan tecrübe ve birikim TRT Belgesel kanalının kurulmasına imkân sağlamıştır. Bütün bu tarihi geçmişe ve binlerce belgesel film üretimine rağmen, TRT Belgeselciliği konusunda yeterince akademik çalışmanın yapıldığı söylenemez. İşte bu doktora tezinde, Türkiye'de belgesel filmin ortaya çıkışından itibaren günümüze kadarki serüveni ve üretilen belgesel filmler TRT özelinde ele alınmakta ve TRT Belgeselciliğinin bir ekol oluşturup oluşturmadığı sorusuna cevap aranmaktadır. Nicel ve nitel yöntemlerin birlikte kullanıldığı çalışmada, üretilen belgesel filmler belirli başlıklar altında kodlanarak sayısal analize tabi tutulmaktadır. Ayrıca TRT'de görev yapan yapımcı ve yönetmenlerin, TRT kurumunun başlangıcından itibaren, belgesel filme verdiği desteğe ilişkin görüşlerine yer verilmekte ve TRT Belgeselciliği kavramı üzerinde durulmaktadır. Bu doktora çalışması birinci bölümde belgesel filmin tanımı, tarihsel geçmişi, türleri, tarzları, önemi ve işlevleri üzerinde durulmaktadır. İkinci bölümde televizyon belgeselciliği kavramı ele alınmakta ve TRT'nin kuruluşundan günümüze kadarki süreçte kamusal yayın kuruluşu olarak belgesel yapımcılığı ve yayıncılığına verdiği önem üzerinde durulmaktadır. Son bölümde ise özgün bir tarz olarak TRT belgeselciliği konusu değişik boyutlarıyla irdelenmektedir. Bu çalışma, TRT belgeselciliğine dair detaylı bir değerlendirme niteliği taşıdığı gibi bundan sonra yapılacak çalışmalara da katkı sunabilecektir.
Documentary film is one of the genres that have emerged since the beginning of the cinema, and it is a type of production that is realized with a certain visual language and fictional logic in order to reveal the fact. The documentary genre first emerged as documentary cinema and then expanded to the television field. Undoubtedly, documentary films have extremely important functions such as information and education for television viewers. However, commercial televisions did not show enough interest in this area, since there was not enough market commercially. For this reason, this type of film has remained in the area of interest and responsibility of public broadcasting television channels. In Turkey, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation TRT, since its establishment, has given importance to documentary film, and its accumulated knowledge and experience have paved the way for the establishment of a unique TRT Documentary channel. Despite all this deep-rooted historical background and thousands of documentary films, it cannot be claimed that enough academic study has been carried out on TRT Documentary. Here in this doctoral thesis, the adventure of documentary film since its emergence until today and documentary films produced in Turkey, are being discussed within the framework of TRT and an answer is sought to the question of whether TRT Documentary has created a unique school. In the study in which quantitative and qualitative methods are used together, the produced documentary films are coded under certain titles and subjected to numerical analysis. In addition, the opinions of the producers and directors working in TRT regarding the support given to the documentary film from the beginning of the TRT. Additionally, the concept of TRT Documentary is being focused. This doctoral study consists of three parts. The first part focuses on the definition, historical background, types, styles, importance and functions of the documentary film. In the second part, the concept of television documentary is discussed and the importance that TRT attaches to documentary film production and broadcasting as a public broadcasting institution is emphasized. In the last section, the subject of TRT Documentary as an original style is examined with its different dimensions. This study is not only a detailed evaluation of TRT documentary but can also contribute to future studies.
