During the globalization process which is very influential all over the world, the development of transportation and communication technologies, changes in tourism, economy and political sphere bring people of different religions, languages, races and cultures closer together. Globalization shows its effects in various fields such as education, economy, politics, migration, international relations and even marriage-family relations. With the desire to perceive new societies, cultures, people and in order to find better living conditions and opportunities individuals migrate to foreign countries and enter into international/transnational marriages. One of the most significant examples of it is Turkish – Russian mixed marriages which are held between citizens of two neighbouring countries, Turkey and Russia. The study aims to determine the impact of rapidly growing Turkish – Russian mixed marriages in the last twenty years, on the economic and social structure, religious, linguistic and cultural differences that occur within marriages, and the role of Turkish – Russian marriages as non-governmental actors on Turkey – Russian relations. In the research, the snowball sampling method was used, which sample consisted of 18 Russian women, who are married to Turks, living in Beylikdüzü and Tuzla districts of Istanbul. Observation and semi structured interview techniques were used as data collection tools. From the information obtained in the study, it was determined that the developing of transportation - communication technologies as a result of globalization and the growing of international trade led to the mutual recognition and similarity of the communities of the two neighbouring countries and the proliferation of Turkish - Russian mixed families. At the same time, the formation of a new mixed community has been observed within Turkey. In this case, it is thought that bilingual and bicultural children of these families will increase relations between Republic of Turkey and Russian Federation and contribute to the further approach of two nations in the near future. Key Words: Turkish – Russian mixed marriages, social, political, different religion, language, culture, bilingual children, Turkey – Russian relations
