Özet
Sedad Hakkı Eldem ve Frank Lloyd Wright iki farklı coğrafyada yaşamış ve birbirlerini tanımamış iki mimardır. İki mimarı buluşturan en önemli unsur, ulusal kimlik kurgusunun Türkiye ve Amerika’daki inşası bağlamında, kendi ülkelerine özgü bir mimarlık hakkında düşünmeleridir. Kendi mimarlık ürünleri de bu düşüncelerin ürünüdür ve bu nedenle etkileri kendilerinden çok sonra bile sürmeye devam etmiştir. Sedad Hakkı Eldem ve Frank Lloyd Wright’ın kendi coğrafyalarına özgü “doğru” mimarlık için önerileri: “Türk Evi” ve “Organik Mimari” doğrultusunda “Prairie Evler” serisidir. Çalışma, iki mimarın bu önerileri üzerinden karşılaştırmalı bir analiz yapmayı hedeflemektedir. Yöntem olarak önce, Sedad Hakkı Eldem ve Frank Lloyd Wright’ın, nasıl bir toplumun içinde doğdukları, hangi eğitim süreçlerinden geçtikleri ve mimarlık mesleklerinde onları besleyen kaynaklar incelenmiş; sonraki bölümde, iki mimarın önerisi, “Türk Evi” ve “Prairie Evleri” karşılaştırmalı olarak analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır.
Sedad Hakkı Eldem and Frank Lloyd Wright, were the two architects, lived in two different geographies and have not seen each other. The most important thing which connects them together is national identity construction in Turkey and America and in context with this their thougts about architecture special to their own countries. Their own architecture were the products of their thougts and that is why their effects have gone on for a long time. Sedad Hakkı Eldem and Frank Lloyd Wright’s the most important propasals for “right” architecture special to their own geographies were “Turkish House” and “Prairie Houses” in accordance with “Organic Architecture”. In this study, these proposals of two architects are comparatively analyzed. For the method of the study, first trying to determine in which social conditions Sedad Hakkı Eldem and Frank Lloyd Wright was born, how was their education processes and the sources of their own architecture. Secondly, two proposals “Turkish House” and “Prairie Houses” were comparatively analyzed.
