Öğe Commercial diplomacy in the BRICS framework: objectives and outcomes(Istanbul Commerce University, 2024) Ishbaeva, Alfiia; Gür, BetülThe article analyzes the features of the development of BRICS+ at the present stage. The main advantages of this association are identified, the problems are analyzed and its development is seen as a tool of commercial diplomacy. The purpose of this study is substantiated by the escalating influence of the BRICS nations on the global political landscape. Brazil, Russia, India, China, and the South African Republic actively participate in addressing pressing contemporary issues and contribute to the reform of the restructured global financial architecture. Notably, the BRICS states strive for economic growth and enhanced international standing among developing nations. The developing nations forming the BRICS alliance aim to ensure economic stability, countering disturbances in the global financial markets primarily originating from Europe and the United States. An overarching goal of BRICS is to address gaps in ensuring stability that established institutions such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the U.S. Federal Reserve are unable to fill. Thus, investigating the consolidation of BRICS countries amid geopolitical shifts demonstrates its paramount significance, particularly in relation to pertinent trends in global politics and economics.Öğe Effect of capital structure on organizational performanceof selected firms in Ghana(Istanbul Commerce University, 2024) Boloupremo, Tarika; Agboufa, Maxwell KemeOne significant decision which impacts on the continued existence of a business firm is its capital structure decision. The finance mix of a business organisation is characterised by external influences, interest and complexities which can impact on the financial performance of the business organisation. This study investigated the impact of capital structure on the performance of selected manufacturing companies in Ghana. Data from the annual reports of the manufacturing firms listed on the Ghanaian stock market from 2011-2021 were employed and analysed using Panel regression technique. Return on Asset (ROA) was employed to represent performance of the listed companies while short-term debt, long term debt, leverage, size and liquidity ratio represented the independent variables for capital structure. Findings from the study suggest Long-term-debt-ratio has a positive and significant relationship with the financial performance of the listed firms, short-term-debt-ratio has a positive and insignificant relationship with the financial performance of the selected firms, Leverage was observed to have a negative and insignificant influence on the financial performance of the firms, firm size has a direct yet significant influence on the financial performance of the selected firms and liquidity ratio (LR) of the firms suggest a positive and significant influence on financial performance of the firms. Çağrı; Civelek, Mustafa EmreThis study aims to determine the relationship between inflation and exports of high technology products. Within the framework of the research model, the relationships between Inflation, Ease of Doing Business, Education Expenditures and High Technology Exports were analyzed. The research sample includes 5-year data of 130 different countries. Four hypotheses were formulated and tested in the study. As a result of the analyzes, all hypotheses were accepted. According to the hypotheses test results, inflation exerts negative effect on doing business; inflation has a negative impact on education expenditure; education expenditure has positive effect on doing business; doing business has positive effect on high technology exports. The results demonstrate that inflation reduces education spending and increases the difficulty of doing business in a country. Thus, one of the adverse consequences of inflation is a decrease in educational expenditure and an increase in the difficulty of doing business, which in turn has a negative impact on the export of high-tech goods. High-tech goods production and export are vital to a country's economic welfare. In societies where education spending is declining, human potential for creativity and self-improvement may be curtailed. This is a topic that requires further research across a range of disciplines.Öğe Rising Borsa Istanbul Trading amid 2023 inflation sparks concerns of stock market bubbles?(Istanbul Commerce University, 2024) Benzeghiba, IslemThis study delves into the detection of speculative bubbles in Borsa Istanbul, highlighting the limitations of monthly observations and the critical role of weekly data in capturing market nuances. Utilizing the Sup Augmented Dickey Fuller Test (SADF) and Generalized Sup Augmented Dickey Fuller Test (GSADF), the research contrasts the efficacy of monthly and weekly data in identifying speculative tendencies through the price-dividend ratio. Initially, the study portrays potential speculative trends marked by significant increases in investor activity, trading volume, and the BIST 100 index. However, contrary to the early indicators suggesting the formation of a speculative bubble, the empirical analysis for 2023 reveals no definitive evidence of bubbles in the price-dividend ratio. The study emphasizes that while monthly data may signal potential market irregularities, it falls short of capturing transient yet significant speculative episodes, essential for making informed investment decisions in the volatile environment of Borsa Istanbul, emphasizing the indispensable nature of weekly data in detecting nuanced market behaviors. The study underlines the need for a layered, temporally sensitive approach to financial analysis, advocating for continuous adaptation and sophistication in methodologies to navigate the complexities of financial markets effectively.Öğe Financial management practices and performance of cooperative organization in Ogun state, Nigeria(Istanbul Commerce University, 2024) Sofoluwe, Nurudeen Afolabi; Osisanwo, Bukonla Grace; Ibitowa, Mariam BisolaFinancial management remains a key pillar for any organization most especially cooperatives. Our analysis performed econometric models of the unit root test, cointegration test, OLS regression model, multicollinearity test, correlation matrix, VECM, and Granger causality test. The regression reveals that interest rate has a negative and statistically significant relationship with capital formation and a positive and statistically insignificant relationship with domestic savings. However, domestic savings and capital formation are negative and statistically insignificant in Bangladesh’s economy. The VECM exhibits a longterm equilibrium association between interest rate and capital formation. Furthermore, Causality implies that there is a unidirectional causal relationship running from domestic savings and capital formation to interest rate. Yet, saving has no causal on capital formation. This outcome has a fantastic execution that can effortlessly stabilize the economy from any unanticipated circumstances. The economy should be concerned with this new study about maintaining a balance with these indicators. Suppose the outcomes of this research work are carried out into policy execution. In that case, that is, proper coordination of regulations on economic variables, progress in the real sector of the economy, velocity of expansion of capital growth, and grass-root mobilization of savings from the surplus market to the deficit market, it will lead to experienced long-run prosperity. We also recommend Policy formulators to accomplish our results properly for the betterment of savings and capital flows in Bangladesh.Öğe Analysis of betawian accounting as a local wisdom business identity: Maqasid Sharia of wealth perspective(Istanbul Commerce University, 2024) Melzatia, Shinta; Nurhasanah, Nurhasanah; Mahrıji, Mahroji; Wahyudi, Ickhsanto; Nugroho, LuckyIslamic law is an ethical and value system that encompasses all aspects of life (personal, social, political, economic, and intellectual), with a foundation that remains unchanged, and it is the main means to adapt to change, inseparable from the fundamental beliefs, values, and goals of Islam. In the development of Islamic economics in Indonesia, Sharia accounting practices are one of the aspects that have evolved. Some studies have found that accounting practices by communities in various regions of Indonesia are influenced by the local culture. One such example is the regional accounting practices of the Betawi community. Both before and after independence, the Betawi people have had their own unique accounting practices. This uniqueness is attributed to the fact that Betawi accounting practices, dating back to the preindependence period, are associated with an environment that consists of a mix of various ethnicities from different regions within and outside Indonesia. Moreover, Betawi has long been a focal point for capitalists due to its rapid progress in trade. This research is motivated by the advancements in Islamic accounting and financial instruments in Indonesia, which, according to the researcher, need to be explored from regional accounting practices in Indonesia that contain religious values. Therefore, this study associates Betawi accounting from the perspective of Maqasid Sharia, particularly the Maqasid Sharia of wealth, as Betawi business practices have long been based on Sharia provisions.Öğe The effect of good corporate governance on profit management in manufacturing companies listed on the ıdx period: 2020–2022(Istanbul Commerce University, 2024) Karim, Abdul; Taking, Muhammed Idris; Indar, Sofyan Hamid; Gunawan, Hendra; SobirinThe purpose of this study is to examine the impact of business governance on the wage system.
