The characteristics, structures, cultures and environments of those firms have been surveyed by many researchers. Most of these researches have revealed the importance of organizational capabilities in achieving sustainable growth in those high performing organizations. In this context, this survey has emphasized the leadership, market orientation and organizational commitment as the sources of sustainable growth in high performing organizations. The survey of this study is conducted on 343 middle and senior managers of 125 high performing firms operating in manufacturing industry in Turkey, between the years of 2008-2010. Firms fulfilling the criteria that (1) being indicated in the list of "Fortune 1000 of Turkey" between the years of 1997-2007, and (2) not being undergone a loss for those 10 years, are indexed as high performing firms. The obtained data from the questionnaires are analyzed through the SPSS statistical packaged software. Factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation and regression analyses are used to evaluate the data. Analyses results revealed that two dimensions of market orientation (customer orientation and inter functional coordination) mediate the effects of the change oriented leadership behavior on organizational commitment.Öğe The effects of leadership styles and organizational culture over firm performance: Multi-national companies in istanbul(2011) Zehir, Cemal; Ertosun, Öznur Gülen; Zehir, Songül; Müceldili, BüşraLiterature suggests that by developing strong organizational culture and effective leadership, firms can achieve effective business performance. Although this topic has been researched worldwide, little empirical research has been investigated the association between the three concepts. This paper helps to fill this gap in the literature using the association between the leadership, culture and performance using the data collected from national and global firms with several sectors (manufacturing, finance and telecommunication) in Turkey. A survey was carried out on 295 employees who accepted to respond to our questionnaires. According to this aim, we researched/investigated the related literature and after developing a research model and hypotheses, we made numerous analyses. The outcomes of the statistical analyses of this study have demonstrated the effects of culture and leadership over firm performance. The reliability analyses of the scales used in the study have significant results. Research findings through the completion of regression analyses for testing the hypotheses are consistent with literature. In addition to the statistical results, the findings have been conceptually discussed and concluded. Finally implications have presented for future studies. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Araştırma yöntemi olarak anket yöntemi kullanılmış ve literatürden uyarlanan sorular, Türkiye genelinde kamu ve vakıf üniversitelerinde çalışan akademisyenler üzerinde 2010-2011 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 10.00 İstatistik Paket Program kullanılarak faktör, güvenilirlik, korelasyon, ve regresyon analizlerine tabi tutulmuştur. Analizlerde uyumluluk, sorumluluk, duygusal dengelilik kişilik tiplerine sahip olan akademisyenlerde iş tatmini duygusal zeka vasıtasıyla arttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Duygusal zekanın uyumluluk, sorumluluk, duygusal denge kişilik tipleri ile iş tatmini arasında ara değişken etkisi yarattığı bu çalışmayla ortaya konmuştur ve çalışmanın literatüre katkısıdır.
