Yüksek müşteri beklentileri, artan küreselleşme hareketi, karmaşık teknolojiler, değişen çalışma şartlarından sadece birkaçıdır. Bugünün iş çevresi, geçmişteki geleneksel emir komuta ve kontrol hiyerarşisinin çok daha az uygun olabileceği bir çevredir. Bunların yerine, çalışanlar faaliyette bulunurken kişisel olarak girişimde bulunabilme ve sorumluluk almayı öğrenmelidirler. Başka bir ifade ile onların “güçlendirilmesine” ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Okullarda personel güçlendirme ‘’ okul geliştirme’’ çalışmalarının bir boyutu olup, okullarda en fazla ihmal edilen, önemsenmeyen ya da önemi anlaşılmayan/anlaşılamayan bir süreçtir. Yüksek performanslı bir okul ortamı oluşturmanın temel şartlarından birisi olarak kabul edilen ‘’personel güçlendirme’’, önleyici hekimlik gibi proaktif bir yaklaşım tarzıdır. Bu makalede, yöneticilerin bu iki farklı bakış açısı analiz edilmeye ve personel güçlendirmenin anlamı ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.In this age, companies require far more things from their employees compared to the past. Higher expectations of customers, increasing globalization, complex technologies are just a few aspects of the change in working conditions. The traditional order and command chain of the past is much less suitable for the present work and business environment. Instead, employees should learn to be able to take initiative and responsibility. In other words, they need to be “empowered”. Empowering the staff in schools, is an aspect of efforts of “developing the school”, and it is a highly ignored or disregarded process. “Empowering the staff”, which is considered to be one of the essential elements of creating a high performance school environment, is a proactive approach like preventive medicine.
